PAINTER/WELDER

Alisha Mir

Transitioning from painting on a canvas to creating surfaces and using industrial tools, it is apparent that the process of making has become important as this was something very new to Mir .

Her work consists of figurative drawing; she has been interested in the fantastic - absurd in relation to the uncanny. She tends to stage photographs which then turn into sketches. Currently in her practice, she has been working with steel and graphite in particular to make drawings that have an eerie, ephemeral representation. Working in this way now, she started to think about the kind of work being made and feels it finds itself somewhere in between painting and sculpture.
